About Us

We are a growing engineering consultancy delivering design solutions across the rail and infrastructure sectors. As our business continues to expand, we’re looking for a motivated and organised Junior Document Controller / Office Administrator to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop a career in office administration and document control. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal role for someone with strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a willingness to learn.

The Role

As a Junior Document Controller / Office Administrator, you’ll support our engineering and business support teams by helping to manage company documentation and provide general administrative assistance.

Working alongside the Office Manager and experienced colleagues, you’ll learn how to control technical documents, maintain accurate records and ensure information is issued correctly and on time. You’ll also assist with a variety of office administration tasks that help keep the business running smoothly.

No previous document control experience is required—we’re looking for someone with the right attitude who is keen to learn.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation, formatting and proofreading of documents before they are issued.
  • Maintain electronic and paper filing systems.
  • Update document registers and company records.
  • Help ensure the latest versions of documents and drawings are available to the team.
  • Support the management and distribution of company-controlled documents.
  • Assist with maintaining HSQE records and company databases.
  • Prepare induction packs and support the onboarding of new employees.
  • Help maintain company standards and document templates.
  • Provide administrative support to the Office Manager and wider team.
  • Carry out general office administration and other ad hoc duties as required.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable and eager to learn. You don’t need previous experience in document control—we’ll provide the training—but you should have:

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Outlook (Excel experience would be beneficial).
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn new systems and processes.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

It would be an advantage if you have:

  • Previous administration, customer service or office experience.
  • A Business Administration qualification or similar (or be willing to work towards one).

What We Offer

  • Full training and support.
  • A structured opportunity to build a career in document control and business administration.
  • Competitive salary.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities.
  • Friendly and supportive team environment.
  • Modern office facilities.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing business where you’ll gain valuable skills, receive ongoing support and have the chance to develop your career as the company continues to grow.
