Join our growing Rail Design team

We’re looking for an OLE Design Engineer to join our expanding Rail team in Manchester.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a few years’ experience in Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) design who is looking to take the next step in their career. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers on a variety of rail infrastructure projects, developing your technical expertise while contributing to the successful delivery of high-quality designs.

The Role

As an OLE Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible for supporting the design and delivery of OLE projects from concept through to detailed design.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Producing OLE design drawings and technical documentation.
  • Assisting with the design of new and existing railway electrification systems.
  • Working closely with multidisciplinary design teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Ensuring designs comply with Network Rail standards, client specifications and industry best practice.
  • Supporting design reviews and technical assurance processes.
  • Liaising with Project Managers, clients and other stakeholders throughout project delivery.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and sharing technical knowledge within the team.

The candidate:

We’re looking for someone who is motivated, eager to learn and enjoys solving engineering challenges.

Ideally you’ll have:

  • Around 2-5 years’ experience in OLE design within the UK rail industry.
  • Experience using industry-standard OLE design software.
  • A good understanding of Network Rail standards and design processes.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Working towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status (desirable).
