ESL is a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy delivering innovative design solutions across the water and rail sectors. As our business continues to grow, we’re looking for a proactive and organised Planner to join our team and play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, on programme and to the highest standards.
Working closely with Project Managers, Design Managers and technical teams, you’ll develop, maintain and monitor project programmes, helping to identify risks, opportunities and critical milestones throughout the project lifecycle.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Developing and maintaining project programmes using Microsoft Project.
- Working with Project Managers and technical teams to establish realistic project schedules.
- Monitoring project progress against programme and highlighting any potential delays or risks.
- Producing programme updates and progress reports for both internal teams and clients.
- Identifying critical paths and recommending mitigation or recovery plans where required.
- Supporting resource planning and forecasting across multiple projects.
- Assisting with tender programmes and project bids where required.
- Attending project meetings and providing programme advice and support.
- Ensuring planning information is accurate, up to date and aligned with project objectives.
- Promoting best practice in project planning and programme management.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a planning role within engineering, construction, infrastructure or a similar industry.
- Experience using planning software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Excellent organisational and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to work alongside multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail.
- Understanding of project lifecycles and programme management principles.
- Experience within the water, rail or infrastructure sectors would be advantageous but is not essential.
